Liv George is a Sussex/Surrey based private cook & caterer behind Trough, her ethos is shaped by a lifelong love of food and the pleasure of bringing people together around a table. English, but born in Lisbon into a family where food was always central to life, long meals and lively kitchens formed the backdrop to childhood - an early introduction to the joy of cooking for others.

Years of travelling and cooking abroad continued to shape that relationship with food. Liv has cooked for families in America, Greece and the Scottish Highlands, absorbing different approaches to hospitality and seasonal cooking along the way. The result is a style that feels relaxed, confident and rooted in bold & honest flavours.

Before founding Trough, Liv worked as an interior designer for some big names in the industry, which created a background that naturally informs the way she approaches hosting. Designing spaces taught her how atmosphere shapes the way people gather, and how thoughtful details can make guests feel immediately comfortable and looked after. As well as creating a visual side to the feasting experience by decorating tables with hand crafted menus, antique platters, beautiful napkins, table cloths and flowers.

That same philosophy runs through every Trough event, which started as a quarterly supper club 10 years ago. The food is seasonal, generous and designed to be shared with others. Tables feel abundant but never overworked. No matter how small or large, Liv’s aim is simple: create food that encourages people to linger, pass plates, pour another glass and settle in. Because the best meals aren’t just about what’s on the plate - they’re about the people around the table and creating magical memories.

At Trough we cook food designed for one thing only...bringing the piggies together.
